Mazzucato is a force of nature. I spoke to her just before she gave the Christian Aid Annual Lecture at St Martin-in-the-Fields on Trafalgar Square, London earlier this month – her chosen topic: “An Economics of the Common Good”. The church is packed. Her introductory remarks to her 40-minute lecture last 20 minutes. Stephanie Flanders, who is in charge of chairing the event, has a hard time keeping to time. Mazzucato has a lot to say, and she says it with a vigour and passion that left me spinning.
