A place of belonging is a stimulating Lent book, a good choice for individuals or parish groups who don’t want to be spoon-fed familiar biblical passages but who also need help to understand the context of the more difficult ones. Lavina Byrne is a true educator – she treats the users of the books as adults and equals, challenging us and never talking down, but always writing clearly, accessibly and inclusively, which is unsurprising as she taught at the Institute of Spirituality at Heythrop College and was a tutor at Westcott House, Cambridge.
