Move over, “Hot Girl Summer” and “Brat Summer”; I am reliably informed by people considerably younger and more knowledgeable than me that this is, apparently, “Nun Girl Summer”.

I did not choose this headline. If you had told the 18-year-old me who entered the novitiate that several decades on she would find herself trending online, she would not have believed you. Nor would I have believed you last spring, when an American National Basketball Association team’s most devoted courtside fans turned out to be nuns in jerseys, or this summer, when “Dominican Sisters Open Mic” quietly became one of the most listened-to podcasts on Spotify among the under-forties, and its host’s catchphrases, “Sister, yessss!” and “Sister, you are so good at that!”, have flooded TikTok and Instagram. And yet here we are.
