Encyclical ‘could be problematic’


Professor Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, who gave the keynote address at the presentation last week of Laudato si’, said this week that the Pope’s “green” encyclical would leave some countries “in a quandary”, write Christa Pongratz-Lippitt and Mark Brolly. “The Poles believe in the blessings of coal and in the Pope. They are in a  quandary,” he said, while Australia’s Catholic Prime Minister Tony Abbot  had invoked the Vatican to dismiss climate change as a minor problem.
