Harvest time in the northern hemisphere has evolved with the backing of ecology-minded Christians into ‘Creation Time’, when activities can serve to remind us of our year-round environmental responsibilities September and October are harvest time in Britain and Ireland – a time when people give thanks for the abundance of food they have; but this abundance is not the reality for many communities who struggle daily to survive. Cafod tells the story of Yehwah in Sierra Leone who makes a place in her home every day to feed 29 people, including pupils at her husband’s school. She literally provides people’s daily bread.
