CDF accused by those it investigates


An international group of bishops, sisters, priests and laypeople who have been investigated by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) have written to Pope Francis outlining their criticisms of the process and warning that a body that acts as “investigator, accuser, judge and jury” cannot deliver justice, writes Sarah Mac Donald. The 15 include Bishops Patrick Power and William Morris of Australia; moral theologian, Fr Charles Curran; and Irish priests Fr Tony Flannery, Fr Brian D’Arcy and Fr Owen O’Sullivan. They call for an end to anonymous denunciations and face-to-face contacts with the accused.
