Nuncio ‘arranged Davis meeting’


THE VATICAN has confirmed that Pope Francis met the Kentucky clerk Kim Davis at the nunciature in Washington during his US visit that ended on 27 September, but said in a statement that the meeting was arranged by the nuncio, writes Michael Sean Winters. Ms Davis was jailed after she refused to allow her assistant clerks to issue marriage licences in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision legalising same-sex marriage, and released after six days.
