B&B couple lose appeal
The Christian owners of a bed and breakfast guest house, forced to pay damages for refusing a room to a gay couple, have lost their appeal in the Supreme Court.
Hazelmary and Peter Bull had been ordered to pay £3,600 to Steven Preddy and Martyn Hall, who are civil partners, by Bristol County Court after declining them a room at their guest house in Cornwall.
The Bulls, who argue they have followed their religiously informed conscience, then unsuccessfully appealed to the High Court before taking their case to the Supreme Court.
