According to Sue Oakley those validly married, divorced, then invalidly married have no need to attend to the teaching of bishops when deciding whether to receive Communion (Letters 31 October).
"Personal conscience and careful discernment" are all we need.
I hope she is willing to be consistent and agree that the sexual abuser of children, and the seller of bogus shares to the elderly, and the breaker of promises, and the rich person who refuses to give to the poor (all mortal sins): that if their consciences give consent, they, without repenting, should feel free to ignore their bishop and to receive Communion.
