Your reference to “the island off Australia” in the St James in Tasmania piece (Notebook, 8 August) could cause raised eyebrows and not a little chagrin to the inhabitants of the apple isle. Tasmania is a State of the Commonwealth of Australia, not just an island.
Taswegians (not Tasmanians) are constantly affronted by the exclusion of Tasmania from maps of Australia, so please do not compound the felony!

Note to readers: most dictionaries aren't familiar with 'Taswegians' either!
