While I thank Brendan Walsh for his feature, one of his assumptions must be challenged (The Tablet, Letters, 2 July). It is simply not true to say that "for Anglicans, the issue of women in ordained ministry has been more or less settled for years."
Both the Lambeth Conference of 1998 and the more recent decision of the Church of England General Synod are clear that people on both sides of this debate are loyal Anglicans (or are within the spectrum of Anglican tradition). One could well challenge the ecclesiological logic of this position, but that would be a different matter.
