Cardinal Norberto Rivera confirmed last weekend that Pope Francis will visit Mexico next year for eight days from 12 to 20 February, with trips to the shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe and Mexico’s border with the United States as possible parts of his itinerary, writes Isabel de Bertodano.
Cardinal Rivera said he believed the visit would give Mexicans hope during a crisis of violence and corruption in the country.
