The trading of relics has found a new lease of life online at auction site eBay.

But now uCatholic, a US-based Catholic website, is petitioning the e-commerce giant to stop selling relics of the saints. It points out that the sale of relics is not only against canon law but also against the site’s own policy, which reads: “We don’t allow humans, the human body, or any human body parts or products to be listed on eBay. If you are selling a first-class relic, you must state in the item description what the relic is made from. If it’s a human remain, it can’t be sold if it’s made from any body part except human scalp hair”.
