Mary McAleese, the former President of Ireland, and Cherie Booth, leading barrister and wife of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, have both taken on roles at St Mary’s University in recent months.Now another famous female Catholic has joined their number: Ruth Kelly is to become pro vice-chancellor for research and enterprise, a full-time post in which she will boost funding and build partnerships with the Government and businesses across the world.
