IN DEFENCE OF THE FAITH COMMISSION There is much to interest Catholics in the report of the Commission on Religion and Belief in British Public Life (Corab). It bears the DNA of Catholic thinking and social action at many points, calling for all people of faith to contribute to public policy, and to be embraced as part of Britain’s ongoing national story – accorded equal respect and treatment.As a commissioner, I find it difficult to recognise many of the views ascribed to the report in your coverage. Indeed, some are specifically rejected by us. The claim in your leader (“A deeply flawed report”, 12 December) that we adopted a “secularist” orientation to faith schools is simply wrong; rather we are “pluralist”– a crucial distinction.
