Where is the next C.S. Lewis? Or even G.K. Chesterton?


 
It probably reveals something lacking in me, but I do love a list. My mother, in moments of exasperation, used to refer to my father as “Old Tidyitis” and I fear I have his genes in this respect. And then there is that age-old penchant in Catholicism for calibration – four sins crying out to Heaven for vengeance, five Joyful/Sorrowful/Glorious/Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary, seven deadly sins, and so on.Inevitably, therefore, I fell upon the Church Times’ list of 100 Best Christian Books, compiled by an expert panel and published this month.
