MAKING THE long car journey home from Lourdes can be stressful with two young grandchildren in the back seat. One plan was to stop overnight in Lille, where a Google search disclosed a Sunday evening Mass at the Eglise Saint-Maurice in the city centre – a large and very old church. A quarter of an hour before Mass was to begin, there was a lot of movement around the temporary-looking raised ambo situated in the middle section of the church.
