There has been a swift departure and reappointment at the English College in Rome. Fr Martin Kelly, a priest of the Diocese of Leeds and former secretary to Bishop – now Archbishop – Arthur Roche, had been appointed vice-rector of the college, having previously held the role of pastoral director. He came to Rome to undertake further studies in 2012.However, the Diocese of Leeds has said in a statement that Fr Kelly “has decided to return to Leeds for personal reasons and is awaiting a new pastoral appointment within the diocese later in the year”.Mgr Philip Whitmore, the rector of the college, told us that Fr Mark Harold, the current vice-rector, “has kindly agreed to remain in post for the time being”.The English College is widely considered the &ldquo
