Relic call for late master


 
He was the first English Grand Master of the Order of Malta since 1258, had a black belt in judo and was related to the Queen. Now it appears momentum is gathering behind the cause to make Fra’ Andrew Bertie a saint.His beatification cause was opened earlier this year and the postulator has just asked members of the order to send items closely connected to Fra’ Andrew that could later become relics. Previously a financial journalist, the former Grand Master helped start the Order of Malta volunteers (OMV) Lourdes pilgrimage, attended by thousands of young Catholics who each year assist the sick at the Marian shrine.
