Just over two months ago, Kieran Conry announced his resignation as Bishop of Arundel and Brighton after acknowledging he had been unfaithful to his vow of celibacy. The diocese is currently in the midst of celebrating its golden jubilee, which will culminate next July with a Mass at the Amex Stadium in Brighton, and there are hopes that a new bishop will be in place by then. So who might it be? Church sources are tipping the Bishop of the Forces, Richard Moth, 56, an able administrator who, crucially, has experience as a bishop – and the new leader of Arundel and Brighton will need a sensitive but steady approach. Other possibles include Bishop Pat Lynch, an auxiliary in Southwark; Fr Alexander Sherbrooke, parish priest of St Patrick’s, Soho Square; and Fr Christopher Jamison
