Fig trees are part of the biblical landscape, but that isn’t the only reason why Archbishop Justin Welby gave Pope Francis a cutting from one that grows in the Lambeth Palace garden.The cutting came from a Ficus carica “White Marseilles” that was planted by the last Catholic Archbishop of Canterbury, Reginald Pole, in 1556.
