Tribute to the fallen


 
Arundel Cathedral’s annual carpet of flowers this year commemorated the centenary of the beginning of the First World War.The tradition of laying a 90-foot floral tableau down the central aisle of the cathedral to celebrate Corpus Christi has endured for over 100 years. The cathedral was open on Tuesday so visitors could see the flower arrangers at work and the carpet was completed by the evening. Thousands of people from all over the south of England visited the display on Wednesday and Thursday, the actual Feast of Corpus Christi. “In view of similar events around the country and indeed across Europe, it was decided to maintain very much a local focus; commemorating and praying for those from Arundel who gave their lives in the Great War,” said the cathedral dean, Cano
