Cordial relationsI was disappointed by the secondary headline above Christopher Lamb’s otherwise broadly factual report (“Archbishop’s visit will redress strained relations”, 6 February). Relations between the UK and the Holy See are not “strained” – quite the opposite, as the many things we are currently doing together show – and it is quite wrong to suggest that Archbishop Gallagher’s visit to London is in order to “redress” problems. It’s true that the Prime Minister has not visited Pope Francis or the Vatican, but over the past few years the Queen and quite a range of government ministers have. Archbishop Gallagher himself comes to the UK at the invitation of the government, and will meet several Cabinet Ministers
