A distorted balance in broadcasting


 
Nigel Holmes (Letters, 22 August) rightly draws our attention to two public consultations – by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and the BBC Trust – which afford an opportunity to appeal for more and better religious broadcasting. While it may not be the role of the BBC to lead our national moral standard, I do believe such a publicly funded body should reflect the desired norms of a civilised society with Christian heritage, while also promoting acceptance and integration of other races and faiths we have imported (“Radio religious programmes not popular”, News from Britain and Ireland, 29 August).
