I have just caught up with your coverage of the first earthquake in Nepal (2 and 9 May). I was trekking on the Manaslu trail quite close to the epicentre when the earthquake struck. The group I was with, comprising 14 trekkers and 35 guides, porters and other support team members, was extremely lucky in being able to complete its journey without injury or loss and to return home as planned. That this should be so was down to a mixture of high professionalism and skill by the support team, constant good fortune in our timing and, dare I say it, the prayers and support of many back at home.The Nepalese are an extraordinary people living in an extraordinary country.
