Open the doors to the Eucharist


 
I totally agree with the your leader “Picture worth a thousand words” (23 November). The reality is that we are confronted by empty pews and a negligible participation by young ­people in church activities and worship. Youths whose parents made an unsuccessful first ­marriage and remarried without an ­annulment are usually not going to join the Communion queue themselves if they attend Mass with a parent who can never receive Communion. Explaining the complex norms that govern these things only worsens the sense of injustice.The Church could, tomorrow, change its laws regarding the reception of Communion.
