Still suffer the little children

The United States is being criticised for its treatment of tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors arriving in the country from Central America, 25 years after it and other governments worldwide adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child They arrive at the bus station weary, hungry and afraid. The children, some as young as five, have had their first taste of life in the United States at centres that are basic at best. It is a harsh journey’s end for the young travellers who have taken the perilous route north from their homes in Central America. They are some of the unaccompanied migrant children who this year crossed the border from Mexico in huge numbers. The children are fleeing violence and poverty in their home countries of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Their
