Putin walks a dark and twisted path Premium

In most armed conflicts in the world, the objectives of each side are reasonably clear. In eastern Ukraine, however, they could not be more confused. In the area of its common frontier, Russia has tried hard to provoke and support an insurrection by so-called separatists. Unlike what happened in Crimea, this does not look like a simple grab for territory. It has been accompanied by one of the most cynical displays of misinformation that the world has seen since the days of Goebbels, whose rule – which he attributed to the English – was simply “If you are going to lie, lie big, and stick to it.” Sadly, as Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, primate of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, has pointed out in a heartfelt letter to Catholic bishops’ conferences worldw ....... ....... ........ ........ ........ ........ ........ ........ ........ ........ ........
