Aftershocks of the massacres in Paris continue to be felt around the globe. Italians, who often maintain a lofty indifference to news from the rest of the world, were engrossed in the rolling news from Paris; my local cafe even interrupted its rigid schedule of MTV and football to show the news non-stop, and breakfast conversation was suspended for those days as everyone focused on the television.This concern is well merited. Romans are increasingly aware that Islamic State (IS) has targeted their city, by name, as the ultimate object of their jihad.
