If you’re looking for inspirational reading this Lent, pick up Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium. It’s his vision for renewing the Church and making the Christian faith more vibrant and operative. There’s also a new book that hit the shelves this week, which makes the perfect companion to the exhortation. It’s called My Door is Always Open (Bloomsbury). If you were fascinated by the long interview Francis gave last summer that was published in several Jesuit magazines, you’re going to devour this new book. It contains thoughts and insights that had to be edited out of the originally published interview because of space limitations or the need to provide more context.
