When we consider any action of Christ, we must always remember that according to his own words, he did not come to destroy the Law but to fulfil it. The Eucharist must not be considered as a marvelous improvisation. In reality, this marvel was deeply rooted in the Jewish Law.
Passover (la Pâque juive) prefigured the Christian Easter (la Pâque chrétienne) and for centuries the paschal lamb symbolised the Lamb of God. As it is said in the Office for the Feast of Corpus Christi, “The Bread of heaven puts an end to symbols”.
