Pressing the big red button

Dear Editor

Have those who are in favour of pressing the button given little thought of the consequences?  We are not playing games on a PlayStation when the button is pressed.

We know the devastation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki – one nuclear warhead would cause A whole city to be obliterated.

One reason for renewing Trident is to keep up employment – the loss of jobs would be a disaster.

Could those scientists and workers be employed in means of saving lives rather than obliterating?

We have just lost the run-off-ourselves if we feel Trident is going to save us.  As many have said, Trident would not save us from another 7/7 or 9/11.

It is those who set out to behead us or plant bombs in public places … these are the ones to fear.

Trident only attracts attention.  We need to work for peace and keep close to our enemies – then we will be safe.
