I find myself increasingly in difficulties with our Church. I have been a Catholic for over 30 years and I have never felt like this before, but ...

We cannot bless gay marriages, although we can (and do) bless gunboats, military parades and coronations.

We will not apologise to First Nation Canadians for killing their children and not bothering to bury them properly or notify their parents.

We can marry in a Catholic cathedral a multiple-married individual who has a child out of wedlock and whose neighbours called the police because of their concerns about his domestic violence, but who happens to be a prime minister.
