Mark Lawson on Frank Skinner, the Catholic comedian for whom the Bible is a rattling good read.

Frank Skinner has been on stage for around half an hour when he starts a joke with an intro surely unlikely to be heard at any other stand-up event in Britain: “I was at Catholic Mass on Sunday morning …”

 

At Salisbury Playhouse last week, there was a genteel ripple of surprise, but you suspect the comedian has experienced a stronger pushback beyond Wiltshire because his next line was: “Get over it!”
