Bloodlands
BBC1
The BBC’s new Sunday night police drama, Bloodlands, is set in Northern Ireland – which, although the programme does its best to make shots of treeless hills and remote farms as bleak as possible, is still impossibly beautiful. Even Belfast DCI Tom Brannick has a modernist glass cube house overlooking a mist-wreathed lough. The view doesn’t seem to bring him any pleasure though he gazes out at it with furrowed brow – but then he is this genre’s obligatory tormented policeman, so his brow comes ready-furrowed.
