For a Church that trad­ition­ally thinks in centuries, getting up to speed with the 24-hour world of digital media may take some time. One of the planks of Pope Francis’ reform of the Vatican is to improve the way it communicates with the world. To that end Lord (Chris) Patten of Barnes, a former chairman of the BBC Trust, was commissioned to conduct a review of the Holy See’s media operation with his report proposing one unified structure.
