Spiritual readings – 21 March 2015


 
What God longs for is a childlike trust that will surrender us to his love: “Do what you will with me” (cf. Luke 1:38); give me an attentive, directed heart and mind that ceaselessly asks, “What do you want of me?” (cf. Acts 22:10). God is then free to work within us, bringing to bear on each one of us “the immeasurable greatness of his power”, that “great might which he accomplished in Christ when he raised him from the dead and made him sit at his right hand in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 1:19-20). Let God work; it is love that works and his work is love. Transformation necessarily calls for purification: dross must be burned away; there must be a dying to our self-centred selves in order to live with the life of Jesus. It is when God
