Bricks, mortar and spirit

Undertaking restoration work on your local church may seem like a daunting prospect. But the rewards can be considerable, not only in the finished work but in the fun of fundraising and in the work with donors THe CHURCH is more than a building, but the buildings that house churches matter, too. An inspection of the property belonging to our parish of St Cuthbert’s in Durham a few years ago pointed out the need to repair the flaking and eroding stonework of the church as a high priority.  Due to very wet weather followed by a period of very cold weather, pieces of stone and hard mortar that had fallen from the walls of the church were lying on the paths around the building.
