Keeping the wolves from the door


 
Fans of The West Wing, the US television drama series about the White House, loved its take on politics, from getting difficult appointments accepted, to leaks about policy, dramas on the foreign front, and negotiating with Congress. Its devotees apparently include the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. Swap the White House for Lambeth Palace, and Congress for Synod, and the reasons for his admiration become clear. But the Anglican Communion’s primates who are about to travel to Canterbury from across the globe to thrash out the Communion’s future, where Welby will attempt to knock heads together, should be wary.
