The choir of New College, Oxford has made history as the first collegiate choir to sing the liturgy of a papal Mass. The choir, founded in 1379, sang alongside the “Sistina” pontifical choir for the Feast of St Peter and St Paul in St Peter’s Basilica on Monday. Included were pieces from the Anglican choral tradition by Thomas Tallis, Sir Hubert Parry, Henry Purcell and a new commission Ut Unum Sint (“That they may be one”) by British composer Matthew Martin.
