Bid for immortality


 
Illuminated manuscripts from the Middle Ages, including a Book of Hours and a rare German handbook of Christian death, are among items to be sold at an auction in Paris next week. They come from the collection of Liuba and Ernesto Wolf and include a fifteenth-century Ars Moriendi by Nicolaus Götz (pictured) priced at €200,000-€300,000 (£159,000-£283,000). The Book of Hours is attributed to Robert Boyvin from Rouen, 1440, and is offered by the French auction house Artc
