A catchy new pop song has been released for the next World Youth Day, in Panama next year.
Deacon Pedro Guevara-Mann, head of the music and art of World Youth Day department, said: "World Youth Day is an international and multilingual event. We must not forget that even if half of the participants will speak Spanish, the other half understand English, French, Italian or Portuguese."
The different national language versions of the anthem have been created by different artists, the Italian version by Father Marco Frisina, the Portuguese by Ziza Fernandes and the French by the Chemin Neuf Community. All versions are on the official YouTube channel for Panama 2019 .
The German version of the anthem entitled "Take my Yes" was created by Raphael Schadt of the Augsburg site Credo online. Since German is not one of the official World Youth Day languages, the German version was not included in the international version. The German anthem is found on the YouTube channel World Youth Day Panama 2019 .
World Youth Day was started by Pope John Paul II in 1985. The 34th World Youth Day takes place from 22 to 27 January 2019 in Panama. The last World Youth Day was held in 2016 in Krakow, Poland.
According to the official website, "WYD is open to all young people who want to take part in a festive encounter with their contemporaries centered on Jesus Christ. This event is an opportunity to experience in first person the universality of the Church; to share with the whole world the hope of many young people who want to commit themselves to Christ and others. World Youth Day is a unique way to deepen your faith and grow closer to Christ, by means of prayer and the sacraments, together with thousands of other young people who share your interests and ambitions."
