Jacob Rees-Mogg to star in new podcast

Fans of the Conservative politician Jacob Rees-Mogg will be thrilled to discover that the Catholic MP is now the subject of his very own podcast. And of course it’s called – the Moggcast.

The centre-right political blog ConservativeHome is, from this week, running a fortnightly podcast featuring conversations between blog editors and Mr Mogg.

The Moggcast will cover the political issues of the day, with the first first episode on Tuesday covering topics such as the NHS, the recent reshuffle and Brexit.

Speaking to The Tablet, ConservativeHome editor Paul Goodman said he had originally considered offering Mr Mogg a column, but decided that a podcast would be better suited to the MP.

“The simple reason why we’re running it is because we think people will listen to it”, he said. “I think they are interested in his take on the world... I think there is a certain fascination of quite how it is that he is, in one sense, a very old-fashioned figure, and in another sense a very modern one, with Moggmentum and all that.”

Mr Goodman said he imagined future podcasts might delve into faith and politics. “I imagine it will come up in the course of conversation," he added.

The Moggcast will be available on ConservativeHome as well as their YouTube channel and on SoundCloud
