Francis defends covenant between sexes


Pope Francis has condemned technology that changes people’s gender for creating a “utopia of the neutral”, writes Christopher Lamb. At the opening of the Pontifical Academy for Life’s assembly last Thursday, he said: “To radically eliminate any difference between the sexes and to the covenant between man and woman, is not right.” He added: “The biological and psychological manipulation of sexual difference that biomedical technology now presents as a simple matter of personal choice (which it is not) risks eliminating the energy source nourishing the covenant between man and woman, making it creative and fruitful.”
