GORDON BROWN this week paid tribute to the Scottish Catholic aid charity Sciaf, saying it offered people the hope that they can build a better world.
The former prime minister praised the work of Sciaf at a reception in Portcullis House, part of the complex of the Palace of Westminster, to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the charity.
He said that Sciaf, which is the official aid agency of the Scottish Catholic bishops, was “born out of people’s faith, founded on compassion, and driven forward by a determination that things can be different”.
