Pope Francis in video conference to promote education initiative

Pope Francis is to take part in an online video conference with disabled children to promote the use of technology to improve education.

The video conference, which will take the form of a Google Hangout, is due to take place on Thursday, at the end of an international
symposium on education at the Vatican organised by Scholas Ocurrentes, a charity supported by Pope Francis.

A Google Hangout is a group conversation held over the internet, with video, audio and the chance to share photographs and documents.

This is the second Hangout the Pope has taken part in. Last September he launched a fundraising project for another education programme, Scholas.Social. During Thursday’s Hangout the Pope will launch a
second project called Scholas.Labs, dedicated to using technology to solve problems in education. A third programme, Scholas.Education, is to follow, and will promote networking between teachers and students.
