Nichols praises Filipinos ahead of Mass for Haiyan victims

The Archbishop of Westminster today urged people to support the people of the Philippines as they cope with the aftermath of typhoon Haiyan.

Speaking hours before a special Mass for the victims of the typhoon that was due to be held at 5.30pm tonight in Westminster Cathedral, Archbishop Vincent Nichols said, praised the many migrant Filipino workers in Britain.

“We depend on the migrant community, and we salute their contribution to society. We must stand by them in their hour of need,” he said.

A special collection for the Philippines disaster was due to be taken in aid of the Catholic charity Cafod at the Mass.
