Topic of the week – International law and its limits

Having emphasised that international law is the guarantee of peace between nations, I am surprised that The Tablet could ask if this might be a moment to concede that sometimes the end may indeed justify the means because it could be the worst possible moment to annoy Donald Trump (Editorial, 10 January). This is not only unprincipled, but politically unwise.
