Pastoral care in family breakdown


 
Discussion of Communion for divorced and remarried Catholics is welcome (Letters, 2 November). The situation of those who are experiencing or have experienced family breakdown and have not remarried should also be a priority. Support work reveals a need in both these areas for more readily available, accurate information about annulment and the position of divorced Catholics in the Church. A few are under the false impression that as soon as they are divorced they will be excluded from Communion. Others seek re­assurance after having experienced a sense of isolation for many years.
