Annulment dilemmasCoky Giedroyc’s comments about her faith and her first marriage in her interview by Peter Stanford (“Problems like Maria’s”, 19/26 December) were deeply moving. She is to be applauded for sticking with the Church and bringing her children up in the faith while not being able to take communion because of her remarriage. Her reasons for not seeking an annulment are shared by many – including Adrian Chiles, who wrote beautifully about the gentleness of ordinary believers in “By the shores of faith and doubt” (2 January). Is there no way out of Coky’s and Adrian’s dilemma? Obviously the priests Coky Giedroyc has spoken with can see grounds for annulment, so a real marriage might not have actually taken place whatever she
